Veil of Maya is a song by progressive metalcore band Veil of Maya. It was released as the first single from their fourth studio album, Eclipse, on April 17th, 2012 through Sumerian Records.
The song was written by all four members of the band; Marc Okubo (guitar), Sam Applebaum (drums), Dan Hauser (bass) and Lukas Magyar (vocals). The track has been described as an "epic" mix of melodic guitars and thunderous drums that are reminiscent of early 2000s metalcore. Lyrically, it deals with themes of self-reflection, personal growth and overcoming adversity. The chorus features the lyrics “We bow in its aura / We’re here to stay forever more” which have become synonymous with the band’s fan base. Eclipse was met with critical acclaim and remains one of the most popular albums in the genre today.
