Nightwish is a Finnish symphonic metal band formed in 1996. Their song "Siren" was released as part of their eighth studio album, Endless Forms Most Beautiful (2015).
The album was written by Tuomas Holopainen with lyrics by Holopainen and Floor Jansen. Band members include vocalist Floor Jansen, keyboardist and main songwriter Tuomas Holopainen, guitarists Emppu Vuorinen and Troy Donockley, bassist and vocalist Marco Hietala, drummer Kai Hahto, and violinist and backing vocalist Timo Kotipelto. The song "Siren" has been described as an orchestral piece featuring powerful vocals from Jansen and the lyrics tell a story about a woman who lives in isolation below the sea. It also features dramatic string arrangements, a choir, and heavy riffs that make it one of the most memorable songs on the album. The music video for “Siren” was released in 2015 and featured a mermaid character living in her underwater world. It was viewed over 10 million times on YouTube.
