Pressure Drop is a song by English punk rock band The Clash, released in 1979 as the lead single from their third studio album London Calling. Written by Toots Hibbert and produced by Guy Stevens, it was recorded at Wessex Sound Studios in August of that year.
The genre of the song can be described as reggae-influenced punk rock. The lyrics were written by Jamaican singer/songwriter Toots Hibbert while the music was composed by the band members Joe Strummer (vocals, guitar), Mick Jones (guitar, vocals), Paul Simonon (bass) and Topper Headon (drums). Pressure Drop features backing vocals from singers Rico Rodriguez and Rhoda Dakar of 2 Tone ska band The Bodysnatchers. It has been covered by many artists including Sublime and UB40. The lyrics tell the story of someone who refuses to accept injustice and stands up for what he believes in.
