Sigur Rós is an Icelandic post-rock band formed in Reykjavík in 1994. The band consists of lead vocalist and guitarist Jón Þór Birgisson, bassist Georg Hólm, and drummer Orri Páll Dýrason.
Their song “Gobbledigook” is the opening track on their 2008 album Með suð í eyrum við spilum endalaust (With a Buzz in Our Ears We Play Endlessly). It was written by Jón Þór Birgisson and co-written by his wife Alex Somers. The lyrics are in Hopelandic, which is a language created by Sigur Rós that consists of gibberish words and phrases. Despite being mostly instrumental, the song has become one of the most popular tracks from the album due to its catchy melody and upbeat tempo.
