Adam Ant's "Prince Charming" was released in 1981 as the lead single from his third studio album, Friend or Foe. The song was written by Adam Ant and Marco Pirroni and recorded with Adam's backing band at the time, the Ants.
It reached number one on the UK Singles Chart for two weeks, becoming the first of Adam Ant's three chart-topping singles. The lyrics describe a knight in shining armor who comes to rescue a damsel in distress from her troubles. The chorus features the line "Ride into the sun, Prince Charming". Its music video featured Adam dressed as a prince in a fairytale setting, complete with a white horse. The video also included cameo appearances from actors Stephen Fry, Hugh Laurie, and Emma Thompson.
